Dota is a very popular LAN and internet based game. In this game, you first have to select a side to join. You can either join the good guys, the Sentinels; or the baddies, the Scourge.
The objective of this game is to bring down the opponent's base, the Sentinel's Tree of Life or the Scourge's Frozen Throne, within the shortest amount of time.
Unlike most other games out there, this game is played based on a social aspect. With team members of up to 5 a side, you have to overpower the opposing team with not only you skills, but also your teamwork. This is a team game after all. Often the victor is determined in one crucial battle.
Thus, each individual team member has to be alert at all times. One minor slip-up from any team member would most likely cost the entire game. Teams are often built up of one or two main attackers, with the remaining members taking up supportive role. Both the attackers and the supporters are of equal importance, each with their individual role to play in the team. Supporters would have to provide cover while the main attackers go for the kill.
The interesting part of this game is that it reflects how we behave in an actual real life team. With each member having different roles to play, we have to complement each other instead of locking horns in the process.
With a common goal within reach, a team should function as one unit, instead of being divided. It is not how strong each member is, but it is how you use your teamwork to overcome all obstacles as a team.
